a cultural awakening in Singapore
I'm a SAHM mommy and am a Singaporean Chinese. For years, I've taken my own cultural dialect and roots for granted. Like many Singaporeans, the English language dominated my conversations. I didn't think much of it until a few ears ago, my daughter (who was 4 then) thinks she's 'English' cos that's what we speak mostly. I was dumbfounded and ashamed. It, however, spurned me to teach her our roots and in turn, I had a cultural awakening.
